Portumna Camogie Club is delighted to announce a significant milestone in its journey, officially welcoming local packaging supplier Quitman O’Neill as the primary sponsor of the ladies’ camogie team for the next three seasons.
The partnership was officially launched this week as Peter Cloonan of Quitman O’Neill presented the squad with a striking new set of jerseys.
The sponsorship comes at a pivotal moment for the club, providing a major boost as the players prepare to step up to a higher level of competition.
Building on Championship Success
The announcement follows an extraordinary period of success for Portumna. Last season, the team dominated the Junior A level, capturing both the County and Connacht camogie titles in a historic run that galvanised the local community.
With those trophies now in the cabinet, the club is set to compete at the Intermediate level in the year ahead.
This new sponsorship provides the foundation needed to maintain that momentum and ensure the team is fully equipped for the challenges of a higher division.
Sustaining the Club’s Future
For the club’s leadership, securing a three-year commitment from a local business is about more than just aesthetics; it is about the long-term sustainability of the sport in Portumna.
Club Chairman Shane Madden emphasised how vital such partnerships are for grassroots organisations:
“We are delighted to have a local business sponsor the team. Like all clubs we can’t survive without funding. This deal ensures we can provide the basics like training equipment to all our club players.”
Commitment to the Community
Peter Cloonan, Financial Controller with Quitman O’Neill, expressed his pride in the new collaboration:
“We are happy to support local clubs like Portumna Camogie Club, to give back to the community and to encourage girls at all levels to continue participating in the sport.”
As the ladies’ team prepares to take to the pitch in their new colours, Portumna Camogie Club extends its sincere gratitude to Peter and the entire team at Quitman O’Neill. Together, we look forward to three years of growth, competition, and community pride.
