Portumna Camogie Club players Katie Lawless, Treacy Scott, Alannah Kelly and Ava Bloomer had an incredible evening on Saturday, 18 January, at the 2024 Raheen Woods Hotel Galway Camogie Junior Club All Stars awards.
The winners were presented with their awards by Imelda Hobbins, a former great Galway Camogie Player.
And Alannah had the opportunity to be interviewed by the great Marty Morrissey. Marty, the Gaelic games correspondent for RTÉ News and who regularly presents high-profile sports events for RTÉ Sport, was Galway Camogie’s special guest.
The club’s newly elected chairperson Shane Madden also attended the event.
“It’s really fantastic to have some of our ladies recognised for their contribution in 2024. It’s not every day that we get some of our players interviewed by Marty Morrissey!“ Shane said.
“I hope they realise they are a credit to our camogie club and excellent role models for our younger members to look up to. Although we had four ladies included this year we could easily double that if we play to our potential in 2025,“ said Shane.
“It was a proud moment for me to attend and something that will hopefully drive standards higher in the club.“
Portumna Camogie Club committee member Sinéad Kelly, who is Galway Camogie’s secretary, was also in attendance.
The players’s families also shared in the evening, with many family members making their way to Athenry.
Congratulations to all our 2024 Junior All Stars. We are so proud of all of you, and wish you all the best for the 2025 season.
